When students know that my major post in the company actually is the fung shui master, they all line up for fortune telling. I regret I cannot satisfy them one by one as it will be impossible. I don't want them to be disappointed either. In order to solve such a problem, hereby I can list out the basic theory of palmistry so that you can ready your hands on your own.

Some people would say Palmistry is a means of statistics, but I would say it is part of mysticism more than statistics. The most important thing is that not every theory can be classified clearly with the other, and it needs experience to a great extent. Besides it should merge together with Physiognomy and birthday calculation, the original reading has a lot of grey zone. That is how to distinguish a hand is thick, thin, medium, or between thin and medium, or between thick and medium; its quite pectoral (主觀的).

So let's start with the 3 basic lines which are the heaven line, human line and earth line (天地人三線).

Basically, there are 3 major lines in the hand as shown in the above illustration. The heaven line is also know as the emotion line (情感線), the human line is also known as talent line (理智線)and the earth line is known as the life line(生命線). This time, I will only talk about the general peculiar of each line only and will go into further details later.

The life line certainly denotes the health condition of a person; that is when the life line long and deep, it denotes longevity (長壽). But don’t view it in a superficial way; the line must be in a well-curved manner in order to fulfill such a term. What do you mean by well-curved and not well-curved ? It depends on experience rather than theory.

As for the duration of life span, besides the life line, you have to view the talent line and the thumb also. That is when the talent line and first sector of the thumb are strong enough; it also denotes a long life. So don’t judge it be any single means.

The life line must not be interrupted or to has any hindrances in the middle way. It denotes health and longevity, and the principal is also quite energetic and aggressive in character as well.

But don’t be so happy when you are confirmed thus. You should also view the talent line also. Actually your health is governed by your talent. If the talent line tells that one cannot control oneself, that means he or she will be addicted to smoking or drugs or any other bad habit that would be detrimental to health. But when the talent line states that the principal is in well control of oneself, that means he or she will have good habits of health exercise like yoga or tai zhi, it would bring life in a more comfortable way. Or a lot of people would say longevity is not so important, and health is more important. A good life line not only denotes longevity, it also denotes good health also.

So on the other hand, when you find the life line is short and shallow, don’t be so sensitive. To everything there's an exception, than you have to view it other parts also. Actually it should be done with the observation of the reading of the face.

So a short life line normally states that principal is a straight forward person in character, but down-to-earth(務實) in plan and strategy, while it also has the short coming of timid when facing strange people or in strange places. Its easy to be irritated, always has the feeling that the world is a world of injustice. It also denotes weak in health. For the same disease it takes a longer time to recover than others. For example if it’s just a normal sickness of influenza, other people may rest one or two days and will recover afterwards, this principal may lie in the bed and cannot move for one or two days completely. Thus is the major difference.

Above all, why we have to study mysticism, not just to forecast, but to change. The change of destiny is always done by Geomancy(堪輿), which is the academic term of fung shui. Of course the change of destiny should not be regarded as simple as a question and answer, it’s a tremendous process but heaven still reserve some right for human being to make certain amendment of fate according to the predetermined path.
